The country will see wet days ahead as two low pressure areas (LPA) on both coasts are expected to dump rains during the week, the weather bureau said.

“Luzon and the Visayas will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms becoming widespread rains over the eastern sections which may trigger flashfloods and landslides,” the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) advised the public.

“Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms,” it said.

Pagasa said the rains in Luzon and the Visayas were caused by an LPA that was spotted off the coast of Iba, Zambales, in the West Philippine Sea. As of 11 a.m. Sunday, the disturbance was 290 kilometers east of the province.

Nathaniel Servando, Pagasa administrator, said another LPA had formed in eastern Mindanao.
