Limkaichong files district representative candidacy in Negros

DUMAGUETE CITY — Former congresswoman Jocelyn Sy-Limkaichong has filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) in a bid to take her old seat in the House of Representatives.

Limkaichong is running for 1st district representative in Negros Oriental under the Liberal Party.

She arrived at the Commission on Election (Comelec) provincial office here at 9:53 a.m. on Tuesday to file her COC.

Negros Oriental Vice Governor Edward Mark Macias was also at the Comelec provincial office to show support for Limkaichong.

Limkaichong ran for governor and lost to Roel Degamo during the 2013 polls.

Macias of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) is expected to seek re-election but said that he has yet to fill out COC forms.

“I still have three days,” he said.

NPC and LP are expected to join forces in Negros Oriental.

“It’s a coalition, not a collision,” Macias said.

Incumbent 1st district board members Georgita Martinez and Jessica Villanueva with Guihulngan City councilor Jaime Reyes filed their COCs at 10:10 a.m.
Martinez and Villanueva seek for re-election while Reyes is a new addition to the team.

The three are running under Limkaichong. CDG
