WHAT’S Leni Robredo’s advantage over other vice presidential candidates? She’s sincere and she speaks from the heart, at least according to a Liberal Party stalwart.

LP president and Transportation Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya believes that other VP aspirants cannot match Robredo’s sincerity, especially in her desire to continue the administration’s “Daang Matuwid.”

“When she talks about Daang Matuwid, I think people will have no doubt at all that she is sincere and she is speaking from the heart. I think others cannot level up to that kind of sincerity,” Abaya told reporters on Monday after the launch of Mar Roxas-Leni Robredo tandem in 2016.

Abaya said that he himself was “moved” by Robredo’s speech at the Club Filipino where she formally accepted LP’s offer.

“I am sure you yourselves have heard her speak and those are moving statements,” he said.

And the advantage of the Mar-Leni team up? Abaya said: “They are as consistent and as pure as they can get with the Daang Matuwid.”

Asked what made Robredo accept the offer, Abaya said he had no idea as he “wasn’t part of the ‘convincing’ [committee].’”

“I was merely praying for her. Maybe my prayer made her say yes,” Abaya quipped. Julliane Love de Jesus
