A doctor died after he was stabbed around 24 times by his brother in their father’s house at the exclusive Ayala Alabang Village in Muntinlupa City Sunday night.

A police report sent to the Southern Police District and released to reporters on Tuesday identified the victim as doctor Joser Rabe.

Senior Supt. Alan Nobleza, Muntinlupa police officer in charge, said the victim worked in a hospital owned by his father, Jose Rabe Sr., who was also a doctor.

According to the report, Lourdes, the victim’s wife, said she received a call from her children who told her that her husband had been stabbed by his brother, Jose Rabe Jr.

The report said at 11:40 p.m. on Sunday, Lourdes sought the assistance of the police which immediately went to the scene.

But when they got there, they learned that the victim had already been taken to the South Superhighway Medical Center in Parañaque City, where he was declared dead on arrival, the report added.

It said that responding police officers also initiated a follow-up operation for the possible apprehension of the suspect at that time.

The suspect, however, was “voluntarily surrendered” by his family to the police around 7 p.m. Monday, Nobleza added.

Based on the initial police investigation, Nobleza said the brothers—who both lived with their respective families in the house of their father on Anonas Street inside the village—got into a fight around 6 p.m. on Sunday after the suspect’s wife used the victim’s vehicle.

“I don’t know if it was used without permission or what [the circumstances were] but that’s how the fight started initially,” Nobleza added.

The police said they were still investigating how exactly the incident happened, noting only that the victim was “stabbed 24 times in different parts of the body.”

The police also did not say what weapon was used by the suspect who claimed he acted in self-defense.
