‘Jenny’ keeps strength

Severe tropical storm Jenny (Dujuan) kept its strength as it continued to move slowly Friday morning, the state weather bureau said.

Jenny was last observed by forecasters at 1,120 kilometers east of Calayan Island in Cagayan, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

The storm packed maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 120 kph. It moved west northwest at 7 kph.

Fishermen were told to avoid the eastern seaboards of Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

Moderate to heavy rains are seen within the 600 kilometer diameter of the storm.

The southwest monsoon continued to affect Visayas and Mindanao, Pagasa said.

Cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms will be experienced over Mimaropa, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, Visayas and Mindanao.
