/ 05:55 AM September 10, 2015

The Bureau of Customs on Wednesday filed smuggling charges against a trader based in Binondo, Manila, who imported 10 shipping containers of sugar last May.

Customs Commissioner Alberto Lina led the filing of the charges against Kevin P. Castro, owner and proprietor of Real Top Enterprises with office address at 325 Madrigal Building, Escolta Street, Binondo.

Also charged were Real Top’s alleged customs broker Jerwin S. Torreon, and several John Does who facilitated or financed the importation worth a total of P13 million.

According to Lina, the shipment originated from Shanghai, China, and reached the Manila International Container Port on May 8 and 13.—Jerome Aning
