KMU to stage rally for embattled PAL workers in Manila
MANILA, Philippines – The militant Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) will hold a protest this Friday afternoon in support of about 2,600 workers of the Philippine Airlines (PAL) who will lose their jobs, a report on Radyo Inquirer 990AM said.
The KMU condemned the widespread removal of these employees by PAL management, which outsourced services of three of its departments – call-center reservations, in-flight catering, and airport services.
They have prepared a program to condemn the alleged collaboration between President Benigno Aquino III and the flag-carrier airline company owned by Lucio Tan.
The protesters are set to assemble around 1 p.m. at Morayta Street and will march towards historic Don Chino Roces bridge (formerly Mendiola bridge) in Manila.
