Infra, agri losses from Ineng now at P951M – NDRRMC

Losses and damage to property and agriculture from typhoon “Ineng” have climbed to P951 million, with more than half of the destruction reflected in agricultural crops in affected provinces.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said destruction from the typhoon went up to P951,435,294.73, as of Thursday.

Of this figure, P529,767,294.73 worth of agricultural crops were destroyed while damage to infrastructure totalled P421,668,000.

A total of 2,477 houses were destroyed by the typhoon in northern, central and southern Luzon.

Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development said 65,403 families or 290,922 people were affected by “Ineng.”

Five families or 20 people are still staying in two evacuation centers in Benguet.

Meanwhile, the government has sent P12,743,583.05 worth of relief assistance to affected provinces in northern and central Luzon.

Of this figure, P11,499,195.80 came from the DSWD while P1,244,193.25 came from the local government units.

In Santa, Ilocos Sur, which was rendered isolated by “Ineng,” the DSWD sent 1,460 food packs to augment the 730 packs from the provincial government.

In Caoayan, another isolated town in Ilocos Sur, the DSWD gave 390 food packs as additional assistance to Barangay Pantay Tamurong and 340 packs to Barangay Puro.

The NDRRMC has also recorded 204 “Ineng”-related incidents, including floods, landslides, collapsed structures, etc.

NDRRMC undersecretary Alexander Pama said 38 roads and three bridges in the Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon and the Cordillera Administrative Region, which were previously closed to traffic, have become passable

However, 37 roads, five bridges and two spillways in the Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Mimaropa and CAR are still not passable to any type of vehicle.

The casualty rate from the typhoon remained at 22 deaths, with 23 injured and 15 still missing.
