3 minors caught selling ‘shabu’
Three minors were taken into custody by the police after they sold methamphetamine hydrochloride, or “shabu,” to undercover Manila policemen in front of a fast-food restaurant on Remedios Street in Ermita on Friday night.
The three boys, aged 16 to 17 years old, said that they were out-of-school youth from Mindanao who worked as vendors in Baclaran. Seized from them were three sachets of shabu weighing over 12.795 grams worth around P20,000.
Case officer PO3 Jonathan Sosongco of the Manila Police District told the Inquirer on Monday that they conducted a drug bust in the area based on a tip given by an informant. Sosongco added that the teenagers face charges of violating Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
They will be transferred to the Manila Response Action Center or the Department of Social Welfare and Development pending the order of the city prosecutor’s office.–Jodee A. Agoncillo
