Family and friends on Tuesday paid their last respects to Agapito “Butz” Aquino, who, like his late brother, Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., was considered a freedom fighter.
People who attended the mass past 7 a.m. at the Arlington Memorial Chapel in Quezon City wept as they said their goodbyes to the former senator before his remains were cremated.
His body was cremated past 9 a.m.
Members of the Aquino clan including the presidential sisters were present for the ceremony which also honored Butz as an icon of the first Edsa People Power Revolution.
Other personalities who attended the wake included Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista, former senator Kit Tatad and other members of Congress whom he was able to work with during his stint as a lawmaker.
