Senator Legarda receives French Legion of Honor award

Sen. Loren Legarda has received the Legion of Honor award from the French government for her “invaluable contribution in strengthening the ties between the Philippines and France.”

The title “Chevalier dans I’Ordre de la Legion de la Legion d’Honneur” or the Legion of Honor with the rank of Knight (Chevalier) is one of the most prestigious distinctions being given by the French government.

“I have the great pleasure to inform you you have been awarded the Chevalier dans I’Ordre de la Legion de la Legion d’Honneur. The order is one of the most prestigious French distinctions,” French Ambassador Gilles Garachon said in his letter to the senator on July 29.

“This award is meant for your truly invaluable contribution in strengthening the bilateral ties between the Philippines and France,” the ambassador added.

An environment advocate, Legarda currently chairs the Senate committees on environment and natural resources, climate change and cultural communities.
