MMDA to open ‘zipper lane’ along Edsa on Wednesday

The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Tuesday said it would open a “zipper lane” or a counterflow lane along the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (Edsa) on Wednesday to ease traffic gridlock in the area.

In an advisory posted on its social media pages, MMDA said a zipper lane from SM Megamall to Boni Avenue would be open from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. to accomodate southbound motorists.

“Zipper lane to be implemented tomorrow (July 15, Wednesday) 6AM-9AM for SB vehicles from EDSA SM Megamall to Boni,” the advisory read.

The counterflow lanes were implemented last year during the Christmas season upon the order of MMDA Chair Francis Tolentino to alleviate traffic flow along Edsa. YG
