White, Blue score wins in PDBC basketball

THE White Team backed by Blackwater, stopped the two-game win streak of erstwhile leader Yellow-Royale Power Dream, 54-49 Saturday night for its second win in three games in the Power Dealer Basketball Club (PDBC)-2011 Inter-color basketball tournament at the Sacred Heart School gym.

White shares the lead with Yellow and Uy Network-Red with identical 2-1 records.

Both teams finished the first quarter tied at, 21-all but White pulled off a, 12-7 run in the 3rd to grab a five-point lead, 33-28, entering the final quarter. Yellow however, leaned on Weljohn Alarde and bull-strong center Arnold De Asis who canned crucial three-point baskets to take a, 47-46 lead with 50 seconds remaining.

But White’s Canjo Echavez and Mars Fernandez ignited a closing, 8-2 run for White’s five-point victory.

Echavez led White with 27 points while Fernandez added 11 markers. Weljohn Alarde and Arnold De Asis paced Yellow with 17 and 14 points, respectively.

In the other game, the Blue Team backed by ABCD Byrhon Merchandise crushed Patriots-Green, 54-44.

Green posted a slim lead in the opening half but Blue rallied in the 3rd period and unloaded a, 20-12 bomb in the fourth run to seal the 10-point victory.

Erik Retuya and Taks Moral led Blue with 13 and 12 points, respectively, while Francis Galendo and Skye Mercado paced Green with 13 and 12 markers.
