IBP says it will back BBL if it’s within parameters of existing laws

The Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) is keeping a watchful eye on the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) to decide whether the national organization of lawyers will support it or not.

IBP President Vicente Joyas said they will wait on what will be the law that will be approved.

“The government shall be assured that if the law which would be approved are well within the parameters of the Constitutional and existing laws of the Republic, we are announcing it today that the IBP will be fully supportive of that particular law and will promote its implementation,” Joyas said during the launching of the special edition of the IBP Journal on the BBL.

“Peace must be secured within the parameters of our Constitution and existing laws,” he added otherwise they will raise the issue before the Supreme Court. IDL
