Military office wins ISO

MANILA, Philippines–The Armed Forces of the Philippines Procurement Service (AFPPS) has earned an International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Certificate.

Col. Alvin Francis Javier, AFPPS commander, said the unit is the first procurement office to win the coveted certification from the Geneva-based international standard body.

The AFPPS obtained ISO 9001:2008 Certificate on April 6 from TÜV Rheinland Philippines Inc., an international audit body which specializes in evaluating management systems based on international standards.

“We are so proud of this feat,” Javier said.

Antonio D. Kalaw Jr., president of the Development Academy of the Philippines, said the AFPPS is the first procurement office in the government bureaucracy to be ISO 9001:2008 Certified.”–Cynthia D. Balana
