A WOMAN and her 3-year-old daughter died from suspected food poisoning after eating boiled pork for dinner on Thursday in their home in Famy, Laguna, according to police.

Insp. Vener Hugo, Famy police chief, identified the fatalities as Marites Damasco, 46, and her daughter Venice, 3.

Hugo said Damasco was having dinner at home in Barangay Tunhac at around 7 p.m. with Venice, another daughter, Bernadette, 7, and relative, Ron Pandino, 24, when they suffered stomach pains and began vomiting.

Neighbors rushed the four to the General Cailes Memorial Hospital in Pakil town but Damasco and Venice later died while Bernadette and Pandino were still undergoing treatment.

Hugo said the kitchen utensils and samples of the leftover food were submitted to the Bureau of Food and Drugs for testing to determine what had caused the alleged food poisoning.
