Traffic in Binondo rerouted for construction of Chinese arch
The Manila Traffic Bureau has started implementing a traffic rerouting scheme due to the ongoing construction of the new Binondo Arch.
The traffic bureau said that vehicles planning to pass through Jones Bridge going to the 400-year old commercial district of Binondo must turn right to Escolta.
The traffic rerouting scheme has been in effect since March 30 and will end on June 22.
The Binondo Arch, funded by the Filipino-Chinese Community, is set to be completed on June 24 in time for Manila Day celebrations.
Former President and now Manila Mayor Joseph Ejercito Estrada earlier announced that the improvement of the Binondo’s Chinatown District would be one of his priorities to encourage more tourists and bring higher revenues to the city. KS
