Son accused of killing dad, eating body parts
GOA, Camarines Sur–The alleged killing of a father by his eldest son here early Thursday morning has shocked their relatives and the community here after an autopsy of the victim’s body showed some internal organs missing.
Police Officer 1 Richard Capuz, spokesperson of the Goa Municipal Police Office, identified the victim as Eddie Pares Sr., 51, whose body was found covered with a blood-soaked blanket inside a garbage pit at the back of their house in Barangay Tomagongtong, Goa at 7 a.m.
He said Pares’ younger son, Eddie Jr., 16, found his father’s body in the garbage pit.
Investigators tagged the victim’s eldest son Ardy, 29, as the suspect in the killing, which they said could have been done at 3 a.m.
Capuz said the municipal health officer, who conducted the autopsy, discovered that the heart and liver of the older Pares was no longer inside his body.
“The autopsy also showed a long incision on his chest running down to the abdomen,” added Capuz.
Article continues after this advertisementInvestigators were still verifying rumors that Ardy had cooked or eaten the missing internal organs of Pares. But relatives had insisted to investigators no such cannibalism happened, according to Capuz.
Article continues after this advertisement“Ardy fled the house after Eddie Jr. found out what he did to their father,” said Capuz.
However, Ardy was arrested early Friday morning in Barangay Baligyan, Presentacion, Camarines Sur, about 40 kilometers from this town.
He is now detained at the Goa Municipal Police Office.
Ardy, in an interview, kept silent when he asked if it was true he cooked and ate his father’s internal organs. But also would not say what happened to the missing heart and liver.
Ardy, who was handcuffed while inside the jail, expressed anger against his father whom he claimed was “cruel” to him.
He said he worked as a helper for his father, who operated an automotive repair shop, and that every time he asked for money his father never gave him any.
Ardy added that his father, a widower for eight years, was not his real father, but relatives said this was not true.
With his handcuffed hands over his head while walking around the cell, Ardy admitted feeling remorse for the crime he committed.
Eddie Jr. described his brother as “abot-aboton,” a Bicol term to mean that his brother would sometimes become mentally unstable.
A day before the killing, Eddie Jr. said Ardy was asked by their father to buy an auto spare part but bought the wrong one and was scolded by their father.
According to Eddie Jr., he was not at the house when the crime occurred but when he reached the house at 6 a.m. he found Ardy in the kitchen cooking breakfast.
Eddie Jr. said someone came to the house and asked for his father’s whereabouts but Ardy would not say anything.
