‘Chedeng’ now a tropical depression

MANILA, Philippines—“Chedeng” (international name: Maysak) weakens into a tropical depression as it remains stationary on the eastern seaboard of Aurora province, the local weather bureau said early Sunday.

In its 5 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said “Chedeng” is expected to remain quasi-stationary in the next six hours with maximum winds of 55 kph near the center.

“The estimated rainfall amount is from light to moderate within the 75 km radius of the tropical depression,” it said.

As of 4 a.m., the weather bureau estimated the eye of “Chedeng” was located at 95 km east southeast of Casiguran, Aurora, based on Baler Doppler and all available data.

It added public storm warning signals are now lowered.

Under public storm signal number 1 (winds of 30-60 kph) are Isabela, Aurora, Quirino provinces and Polillo Island.
