Another glitch hits MRT

MANILA, Philippines—Another technical glitch halted the operations of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) for about 15 minutes Wednesday evening.

The northbound train, which stopped at the Santolan Station in Quezon City, eventually resumed operations at  6:07 p.m., but plodded along at a slovenly pace after leaving the station.

It also intermittently halted between Cubao and GMA-Kamuning stations.

The train reached the GMA-Kamuning station at  6:19 p.m., requiring 12 minutes to traverse a short two-station distance.

The incident is the latest in a string of issues befalling the troubled rail transit system.

Operations are also expected to be curtailed this  coming Sunday as track repairs resume.
