Did you know: Roman Ongpin

On Feb. 28, 1847, nationalist and businessman Roman Ongpin was born in Binondo, Manila. He supported and contributed to the cause of the revolution during the Spanish and American periods. He died on Dec. 10, 1912, and was interred at the North Cemetery. On Sept. 17, 1915, Calle Sacrista in Manila was renamed Ongpin Street. A monument in his honor was also built at Plaza de Binondo.
