MANILA, Philippines–A soldier and a 25-year-old man were killed after their motorcycles collided head-on in Parañaque City on Monday morning.

Joey Ramos, 43, identified as an enlisted personnel of the Armed Force of the Philippines (AFP) staying at the AFP barracks in Western Bicutan, Taguig City, and Jessie Manalo, a resident of Muntinlupa City, died instantly after the accident on the East Service Road in San Martin de Porres around 3 a.m.

Traffic investigator SPO1 Reynaldo Serafica said Ramos was plying the northbound lane headed toward Bicutan when Manalo, who was driving in the opposite direction, swerved toward him after he overtook another vehicle. “[Manalo] was not able to return to his lane … so the motorcycles collided with each other [at] full speed,” Serafica said.
