Senators resume executive session on Mamasapano probe

MANILA, Philippines – Senators resumed its executive session on Monday on the Mamasapano incident to listen to the testimony of  relieved Philippine National Police-Special Action Force Director Getulio Napenas and some other personalities.

The senators first held an executive session last Friday for two survivors  of the bloody Mamasapano operation that  left 44 elite policemen dead.

Among those who were present  at Monday’s resumption of the closed-door  session when it started a little past 1 p.m.  were Senate President Franklin Drilon, Senators Loren Legarda, Nancy Binay,  Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, and Senator Grace Poe, who is leading the Senate probe on the incident as head of the committee on public order.

It was Napenas, who requested an  executive session during last week’s hearing  after Legarda  pressed about  the  alleged involvement  of the United States in the Mamasapano operation.

Legarda  particularly asked why the finger of Malaysian terrorist Zulkifli bin Hir alias “Marwan,” who was allegedly killed in the  encounter,  had to be  sent to the Federal Bureau of  Investigations (FBI) for examinations.
