Cafgu wounded in sniping incident at CamSur outpost

camarines sur mapNAGA CITY–A militiaman was wounded in a sniping incident by suspected communist rebels at an outpost in Del Gallego town in Camarines Sur Tuesday morning.

This was disclosed by Senior Superintendent Primo Golingay, Camarines Sur police director, who told the Inquirer the incident happened at 6:30 a.m.

He said Ruel Gunay, a member of the Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit (Cafgu) under the 49th Infantry Battalion, was hit in the abdomen.

Golingay said the sniper was positioned in a hill overlooking the Cafgu detachment.

The 49th IB is in hot pursuit operation against the sniper and his comrades, he added.

Golingay said the hinterland village of Sta. Rita is in an area located near the boundary of Quezon province.

Gunay was brought to the nearest hospital by personnel of the 49th IB.
