Drilon tells PNP, AFP to shut up about Mamasapano incident

MANILA, Philippines – Senate President Franklin Drilon asked the military and the police on Wednesday to “shut up” and to speak only during official investigations on the Mamasapano incident.

“Pwede ba, don’t start throwing accusations at each other in public,” Drilon told Senate reporters.

“I’m asking them to shut up and speak only officially during the official investigations,” he said.

Drilon pointed out that there are proper venues where military and police officials could speak like the ongoing investigation of Philippine National Police’s Board of Inquiry and separate inquiries that will be conducted by the Senate and the House of Representatives.

The exchange of accusations between the military and the police, he said, would not help the “tense” situation following the death of 44 PNP-Special Action Force in Mamasapano, Maguindanao.
