Coldest day in Metro Manila for 2015—Panahon TV

MANILA, Philippines — The temperature in Metro Manila fell to its coldest on Tuesday morning, January 27, 2015, since the onset of the amihan or northeast monsoon in October 2014.

Panahon TV said Metro Manila recorded 18.1 degrees Celsius at 6 a.m.

The reading beat the previously coldest on January 10 and 11, when the mercury fell to 18.9 degrees Celsius in the National Capital Region.

The northeast monsoon blowing over Luzon is responsible for the cold, which usually peaks in January and February.

The coldest temperature ever recorded in Metro Manila was at 14. 9 degrees Celsius on March 1, 1963.

For Tuesday, the tail-end of a cold front will continue to affect Eastern Visayas, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration or Pagasa.

“Eastern Visayas and Caraga region will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms,” Pagasa said in its 5 a.m. bulletin.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated light rain. The rest of Visayas and of Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
