Aquino administration maintains ‘good’ satisfaction rating—SWS
MANILA, Philippines—The national government, under the administration of President Benigno Aquino III, continues to enjoy a steady public satisfaction rating, the results of the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showed.
Despite steep declines in Metro Manila and Visayas, the Aquino administration was rated a net score of +34 in the fourth quarter of 2014, a point lower from the third quarter survey.
In the latest survey conducted from November 27 to December 1, 2014, with 1,800 respondents nationwide, 58 percent of respondents are satisfied, 24 percent are dissatisfied while 17 percent are ambivalent with the Aquino government’s performance.
Citing previous SWS results, the “good” +34 rating obtained in the latest SWS survey is the second-lowest performance net score incurred by the national government since Aquino assumed the presidency in 2010.
Satisfaction rating with the Aquino government suffered steep declines in Metro Manila (from “good” +36 to “moderate” +21) and Visayas (from “good” +45 to +31). The Aquino administration’s net score in Mindanao fell by three points from last September’s +46 to +43.
On the other hand, respondents from Luzon gave a favorable rating to the administration, with the government enjoying an improved net score from “moderate” +24 last September to “good” +35.
Article continues after this advertisementThe SWS classifies net satisfaction ratings of +70 and above as excellent; +50 to +69 as very good; +30 to +49, good; +10 to +29, moderate; +9 to -9, neutral; -10 to -29, poor; -30 to -49, bad; -50 to -69, very bad, and -70 and below as “execrable.”
Article continues after this advertisementAside from rating the overall perfromanc e of Aquino’s presidency, respondents were also asked to answer questions pertaining to 17 specific issues and challenges that hound the national government.
The results of the survey have sampling error margins of plus-minus 2 percent for national percentages, plus-minus 6 percent each for Metro Manila, balance Luzon and Mindanao, and plus-minus 3 percent for Visayas.
