Pope to offer Mass in Luneta for Yolanda victims—Tagle
MANILA, Philippines—Pope Francis will offer his Mass in Rizal Park on Sunday for the victims and survivors of Supertyphoon “Yolanda,” Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle told a press briefing Saturday night.
Tagle quoted the Pope as telling 30 Yolanda survivors at the Center for the Poor in Palo, Leyte, earlier on Saturday that he offered Mass “for all of you and the departed when I heard about the typhoon two years ago.”
“My Mass tomorrow in Manila is for the departed,” the Pope added, according to Tagle.
Tagle said the guests erupted into applause. Pope Francis then asked them to “pray for me,” Tagle said.
“Would you pray for me?” Tagle quoted the Holy Father as saying, to which the survivors answered in unison, “Yes.”
