MANILA, Philippines—A man living alone in Sampaloc, Manila, was found dead with a head wound Wednesday night by family members who went to see him after he failed to answer calls for the past two days.

Police said Ricky de la Torre, 47, was found lying face down in a pool of blood inside his three-story residence on Legarda Street.

The house showed no immediate signs of struggle or forcible entry but De la Torre had a deep laceration on the side of his head, according to homicide investigator SP03 Milbert Balinggan.

The main door of the house and that of the master bedroom, where De la Torre was found, were locked from inside and had to be forced open by his wife and his two siblings, who came with Barangay 412 Chair Felomina Cinco.

According to De la Torre’s wife, he had been living alone since their separation in December 2012, Balinggan said.
