Drum yields human bones

MANILA, Philippines—Human skeletons were found inside a drum container retrieved by work crews from a waterway in Binondo, Manila, Wednesday morning.

The remains were fished out of Estero de la Reina during a dredging operation by the Department of Public Works and Highways, near the corner of Tetuan and Dasmariñas streets, police said.

The drum turned up when it was accidentally hit by a backhoe and its grisly contents were exposed, said Chief Insp. Ronald Andres, head of the Manila Police District’s Meisic station. The bones were turned over to Saint Rich Funeral Services in Sta. Ana. Annelle Tayao-Juego
