Ex-OFW nabbed for jobs racket
TAGUM CITY—The National Bureau of Investigation has arrested a former overseas Filipino worker in Tagum City, Davao del Norte province, for allegedly duping six people about supposed jobs abroad in exchange for money.
Orlando Rivas was arrested in an entrapment operation at a mall in this city on Tuesday, said Samuel Balisi, NBI Tagum district chief.
The 33-year-old suspect was arrested after some of the victims sought NBI help, Balisi said on Wednesday.
“Among the victims are his friends or family acquaintances,” said Balisi.
Balisi said Rivas passes himself off as representative of a company that has job openings in the Middle East.
Rivas, according to Balisi, had collected up to P230,000 from six of his victims. Balisi said there could be more victims.
