Did you know: Mapua Institute of Technology
The Mapua Institute of Technology (MIT) was founded by architect Tomas Mapua. Born on Dec. 21, 1888, in Manila, Mapua won the Manila Cultural Award for Architecture in 1964. He established the MIT on Jan. 25, 1925, and it started out as a night school with 80 students enrolled in civil engineering and architecture. A former councilor of Manila, Mapua also designed the De La Salle College building which was erected in 1916. He died on Dec. 22, 1965.–Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
