MANILA, Philippines – As Typhoon Ruby (international name Hagupit) heads out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) leaving behind a trail of destruction across southern Luzon and Visayas, Inquirer looks back at the aftermath of the strongest typhoon to hit the country in 2014.

While Metro Manila was spared by the wrath of Ruby, many typhoon-weary provinces still reeling from Yolanda in 2013 found themselves bracing for another monster storm. These are the photos taken by photographers of the Philippine Daily Inquirer who went to the areas in the path of the storm.
