Very sick boy needs P4M for transplant

At his age, Keanu Ruiz Geronimo should be in school.

Instead, the 7-year-old boy has been spending his days at Philippine General Hospital, seeking treatment for myelodysplastic syndrome, a blood disease that causes faulty maturation of cells and very low blood levels.

“He is dependent on blood transfusions right now. He is also undergoing several laboratory tests in preparation for a bone marrow transplant,” Keanu’s grandmother Romana told the Inquirer.

The cost of the transplant, however, is expected to reach P4 million, a sum that Keanu’s family needs help raising.

“While we are in a situation where we are hoping for a miracle, we also believe that the humanity and compassion of other people can save him. We thank all of you in advance for your kind generosity,” Romana said.
