THE Talisay City Prosecutors’ Office dismissed  charges of malicious prosecution against personnel of the National Bureau of Investigation in Central Visayas (NBI-7).

Talisay City Assistant Prosecutor Jenelyn Forrosuelo said there was insufficient  basis to indict NBI-7 Special Investigator Arnel Pura as well as investigation staff Xerxes Baladia; medico-legal officer Rene Cam, Cebu-based lawyer Mundlyn Misal-Martin and four other women.

Engr. Robert Yee filed charges of robbery, extortion, grave threats, and malicious prosecution against the NBI staff.

In an affidavit, the student said she was “coerced and induced” by the respondents to extort money from Yee and sign an erroneous complaint for rape against the engineer.

However, the prosecutor said there was no evidence to pin down the respondents.

“There is no showing that the charge of rape against Yee was false. There is also no showing that the filing was made upon the instruction of the respondents and they acted with malice,” the prosecutor said./REPORTER ADOR VINCENT S. MAYOL
