Today, Nov. 17, is the 86th birth anniversary of National Scientist Jose Encarnacion Jr. Born in 1928 in Manila, Encarnacion was known as an economist, academician and a theorist. He was conferred the National Scientist Award in 1987. Encarnacion died on July 5, 1998.–Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
