UP Baguio gets another bomb threat

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines—University of the Philippines-Baguio evacuated its students on Tuesday morning because of a bomb threat sent by text message, the university’s public information office said.

Students and employees, however, were ordered back to school before noon after police bomb experts found no evidence of explosives on the campus.

It was the second threat made at the UP Baguio campus since Aug. 27, when a text message was sent to a university official. This time, the threat was sent by text message to teachers and students of the College of Arts and Communication at 9 a.m., the UP Baguio public information office said.

Unlike the August incident, however, UP Baguio Chancellor Raymundo Rovillos instructed some of the colleges to hold classes at the Baguio Convention Center while waiting for the police’s firearms and explosives unit to finish inspecting the campus, it said.
