MANILA, Philippines–Rosalinda Rosales, mother of 12-year-old Dana Angela who suffers from acute lymphocytic leukemia, does not know how to break the bad news to her daughter.

Dana has just finished undergoing radiation treatment to combat the cancer cells in her blood and bone marrow. Doctors, however, told Rosalinda that the cancer has spread to her daughter’s brain.

“She was thinking all the while that everything has gone back to normal. I’m trying to work up the courage to tell her about the new development,” Rosalinda said.

A single parent, Rosalinda said that she has asked her parents and sister in San Pablo City, Laguna, to care for her three other children so that she could concentrate on caring for Dana.

According to doctors at the Philippine Children’s Medical Center, the young girl needs to undergo another round of therapy to combat the cancer cells in her brain. Treatment, which will cost around P226,000, will help prolong her life and prevent her from slipping into a coma.

Donors can reach Rosalinda Rosales at 0919-2285946 or deposit their donations in her BDO account (#0039-8018-8803).
