Jeepneys with no garbage bins apprehended

AT LEAST 32 jeepney drivers in Mandaue City were fined P500 each for failing to install trash bins in their vehicles.

Most of them ply routes from Mandaue City to Cebu’s northern towns.

They were apprehended by a solid waste management enforcement team for violating a city ordinance requiring jeepneys to install garbage receptacles behind the driver’s seat.

Each apprehended driver was issued a citation ticket and fined P500 each.

Failure to pay the fine will lead to the filing of criminal charges against them.

Ibabao-Estancia barangay captain Carmelino del Mar Jr. said the implementation of the ordinance will be intensified in the coming days.
