LTFRB suspends 16 Victory Liner buses over Sept. 21 fatal crash in Pampanga

MANILA, Philippines—The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board has grounded 16 buses of Victory Liner over the accident in Pampanga last Sept. 21, which killed the conductor and injured 22 others including the driver.

The order, issued on Thursday and signed by LTFRB chair Winston Ginez and board members Ariel Inton and Ronaldo Corpus, preventively suspends the buses running in the Sta. Cruz, Zambales-to-Pasay City-route for not more than 30 days.

The suspension is preventive in nature while the board conducts an investigation.

Authorized personnel of the LTFRB will confiscate the for-hire plates of the 16 buses.

Victory Liner is ordered to show cause why their franchise should not be revoked within 72 hours. A hearing is also set on Oct. 1.

A Victory bus with Plate No. CXL-581 figured in an accident along NLEx on Sept. 21, 11:50 p.m., when it collided with a 14-wheeler truck.

During the suspension, the Land Transportation Office will determine road worthiness of the vehicles while the drivers will undergo road safety seminar and drug testing.
