QC dads OK P1,500 rice money for teachers
Teachers and nonteaching personnel in Quezon City’s public schools can soon look forward to receiving a quarterly rice allowance of P1,500 following the approval of a proposed ordinance on the additional benefit. Authored by Councilor Godofredo Liban, the ordinance which seeks to “recognize the valuable role of the academic and nonteaching staff of the Division of City Schools in Quezon City…” was approved on third and final reading this week. All employees who have rendered at least four months of service, regardless of their employment status, are entitled to the incentive. Those convicted of any administrative or criminal charge, however, will not receive the rice allowance for the year their sentence is handed down. Erika Sauler
Caloocan City gov’t to build new road
To ease traffic in the area and make travel more convenient, the Caloocan City government will build a 10-meter-wide concrete road on Saranay Avenue Extension. Mayor Oscar Malapitan said the new road and corresponding improvements would benefit motorists and residents of Barangay 171 Bagumbong, Barangay 173 Congressional and nearby areas by reducing travel time. During the groundbreaking ceremony on Sunday, Malapitan also said that Saranay Avenue would be widened and cemented. Canals will likewise be installed to reduce flooding on both thoroughfares. Once completed, the new road will help ease traffic going to and from Bagong Silang and Deparo in Caloocan City, Barangay Bignay in Valenzuela City and Meycauayan in Bulacan province. Camille Anne M.
