MANILA, Philippines–Quezon City’s second-most wanted man fell into the hands of the police more than six years after he and several others allegedly killed a man and his brother inside a cemetery.

Emiliano T. Calisa, 51, also known as “Bangkay” and “Longhair” and a resident of Baseco Compound in Manila, was arrested on Tuesday evening on C. M. Recto Street, near the Divisoria area.

In a statement, Quezon City police director Chief Supt. Richard Albano said that Calisa was the second-most wanted fugitive in the city.

He was arrested by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Bernelito R. Fernandez of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 97 for murder and frustrated murder.

Calisa and a coaccused identified as Reynaldo Canciller—who was arrested last March—were charged in October 2011 for the killing of Eduardo Mananghaya, 32, and the wounding of his brother, Rolando, 42, in the Barangay (village) Bagbag Cemetery on Jan. 20, 2008.

Police investigators had then quoted witnesses as saying that before they were killed, the victims were spotted playing cards with the suspects at the cemetery, leading investigators to believe that the incident may have sparked by a disagreement over the card game.

Calisa, Canciller and a third suspect identified as Danny Farienter were identified by a fourth suspect, Danilo Nordan, 41, who had also been arrested.

Calisa is now in the custody of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit at Camp Karingal in Quezon City.
