MANILA, Philippines—Six inmates escaped from a detention facility in Cagayan de Oro City before dawn Tuesday, police said.
The prisoners serving their time inside the Misamis Oriental Provincial Jail in Cagayan de Oro City escaped at around 2 a.m., said Philippine National Police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr.
He said that two of the prisoners, identified as Loreto Monterola, who was jailed for frustrated homicide, and Reneboy Zamaranos, who had a qualified theft case, were caught by responding policemen.
The six destroyed the ceiling and roof of their detention cell, according to police.
