Police nab boxer
An ex-boxer was arrested by police after a buy-bust operation in barangay Labogon, Mandaue City, last Friday.
Apolonio “Apol” Suico Jr. and his live-in partner are now detained at the Basak police precinct. They will be charged with illegal possession and selling of dangerous drugs.
Insp. Stephen Almamag-id, chief of Basak police, said that after a a three-week surveillance of Suico, a poseur-buyer bought a sachet of shabu worth P300 from the suspect in sitio Centro.
When the transaction turned positive, police arrested the suspect.
Police recovered the marked P300 cash and nine other sachets of suspected shabu inside a small white container in the suspect’s pocket.
Suico, who was active in boxing in 2005 until last year when his license expired, has a pending case of illegal drug possession after he eluded arrest in a July 27 buy-bust.
