Inayawan shooting

A 29-year-old man was shot dead yesterday in baranmgay Bulacao, Cebu City.

Giovanni  P. Jimenez drove his motorcycle  to the Inayawan barangay hall to ask for help after he was shot in the  chest by an unidentified perpetrator past midnight. He later died in a Cebu City hospital while undergoing treatment.

The victim’s wife Virgileen said she last saw her husband around 7 p.m. Sunday  as he drove his motorcycle by their house  in sitio Cabangcalan. She said Jimenez was following a friend named “Insek” and a backdriver in a motorcycle ahead of him.

The family of slain Cebu City Assistant Prosecutor Patrick Osorio said they were confident the police arrested his real killer.

The victim’s father Jesus said that Lyndon Harandoy executed an extra-judicial confession admitting his participation in the crime.  The admission has yet to be finalized in court.

Horandoy was scheduled for arraignment yesterday but it was postponed because he said  he still had to secure the services of a lawyer.

Regional Trial Court Judge Sylvestre Maamo of Branch 17 reset the arraignment to Oct. 4.

Horandoy’s  family sought assistance from the Public Attorney’s Office but PAO lawyers declined to assist  the suspect t o avoid conflicts.
