US plane evacuated in Oakland after bomb threat
LOS ANGELES—An Alaska Airlines plane was evacuated on Monday after a bomb threat was received while it was en route to San Francisco, although no explosives were found, an airport spokeswoman said.
All 132 passengers and crew were taken off after the plane was escorted to a remote area of Oakland International Airport, where the airliner had landed from Seattle.
“This morning at about 7 o’clock we received a phone call regarding a bomb threat against an Alaska Airlines flight that was inbound from Seattle,” airport spokeswoman Joanne Holloway told AFP.
“The flight landed in an isolated area on our taxiway and passengers were deplaned,” before being taken to the terminal and screened, after which they were free to go, she added.
The aircraft was swept for explosives and other material, but none was found, she added.
The bomb threat was made in the form of a note found at the nearby San Francisco International Airport, according to local media, confirmed by an airport source.
