MANILA, Philippines—Noelle Wenceslao, Carina Dayondon and Janet Belarmino became the first women from the Philippines and Southeast Asia to reach the summit of Mount Everest, the world’s highest mountain. The three reached the peak of Everest four years ago today, May 16, almost a year after Leo Oracion became the first Filipino to scale Mount Everest successfully on May 17, 2006.—Schatzi Quodala, Inquirer Research
