Most Filipinos still clueless on prostate

/ 07:14 AM June 13, 2014

MANILA, Philippines–Most Filipino men are still uninformed about prostate cancer even as a vast majority of cases are detected in their advanced stage, according to the Department of Health (DOH).

DOH records showed that prostate cancer is now ranked as the fourth-most common cancer among males.

In response to the need, the DOH and private hospitals all over the country will offer free testing for prostate cancer on Saturday as part of the government’s “National PaDRE and Men’s Health Day” program.

Health Secretary Enrique Ona said it would be a good way to celebrate Father’s Day by bringing fathers to any of the 64 participating hospitals.–Tina G. Santos
