PNP body penalizes security guards for ‘butterfly’ move
The Supervisory Office for Security and Investigating Agencies (Sosia), a body under the Philippine National Police (PNP), has revoked the license of four security guards following an administrative complaint by their former employer.
In an April 30 resolution, the PNP-Sosia Management Committee granted the motion for reconsideration filed by Oscar Arlante, owner of Aeromachi Security Agency, and ruled against Jorge Mondia, Gilbert Boyong, Leonardo Cayas and Quirino Galanza.
The guards, whom Arlante had accused of perjury, gross dishonesty and falsification in violation of the Security Guards Creed and Ethical Standards in May 2013, earlier got a favorable ruling from the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC).
This prompted Arlante to take his case to the PNP-Sosia. Arlante alleged that the guards, motivated by ill will, influenced an Aeromachi client to terminate its services and hire another security agency.
The guards then immediately resigned from Aeromachi “after ensuring their absorption” in the newly tapped agency.
Apart from being a show of “bad faith,” the guards’ “butterfly attitude displayed malpractice and unfaithful conduct,” according to the PNP-Sosia resolution signed by its officer in charge, Senior Supt.
