MANILA, Philippines—Militant lawmakers said the government should stop “babying” Napoles and immediately detain her in an ordinary jail.

Gabriela Rep. Luzviminda Ilagan said that as long as the doctors declared her fit to get out of the hospital, Napoles deserved to be held in a normal cell for her case of illegal detention instead of her “exclusive suite” at Fort Sto. Domingo.

Bayan Muna Rep. Neri Colmenares said the government was keeping Napoles in a military camp not for security reasons but to isolate her from other factions seeking to contact her.

“If our own government cannot secure Napoles in an ordinary jail, that is a big embarrassment. This special treatment of Napoles is part of the government’s strategy to protect the information she has and control all her communication lines,” he said.
